I can't even

After finishing this movie, Sicko, and pretending to not want to cry for these people, I can say that I literally want to leave america right now and go anywhere else! Even CUBA! Like, I think that if the executives had to deal with some of the problems that those who have health problems and have to suffer, we would have a lot of change in this country. Im just happy that I am fortunate enough to never have to deal with this. And when planning on leaving America, I start to feel guilty about leaving, because if I just leave, nothing is going to happen to those people. Im not saying I can change the whole insurance problem, but just by me leaving, I am just the same as the insurance companies because I am abandoning them. So I don't know what to do. Hopefully the next president can help change this and fix america.

  1. The movie made me angry as well! I do not understand how insurance companies can be so heartless. These are mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters who are literally dying because they cannot afford to pay for a lifesaving surgery or medicine. I agree that if the executives had illnesses and had to abide by the same rules that everyone else does, that the system would be changed fairly quickly.

Unfortunately, we do not live in a world that is fair. People in our country tend to be very individualistic, which I believe is why we do not have universal healthcare.

I have also considered moving out of anger from everything we have learned in this class. I never thought of it the way you have about abandoning those people who are not getting the care they need. I thought of it as abandoning the country, but not the people. I am glad you brought this point of view up. It has defiantly made me see why I should not, and cannot leave. In a sense, we would be abandoning the people of this country.

I hope we can fix this healthcare system. I believe it will most likely be a slow process, but it would be a step in the right direction.
