In Evansville, Indiana a 60 year old women gave birth to two twin boys. The couple had been using in vitro-fertilization for about a year before becoming pregnant. The women states that God told her it was time to have a baby and she was in shape and healthy so she didn't see why not to.
I just found this article interesting. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a baby at 60 years old, let alone twin boys. Hopefully the couple stays in good health and has help raising the twin boys.
The saying "It takes a village to raise a baby," may stand true in this case.
Age may only be a number, but anybody can agree that the older you get the less active and mobile you become. These twin boys have a lot of life ahead of them and I wish the best for their parents that they can keep up.
This is very interesting. I personally think it is unfair to the twin boys. These parents (who should be the grandparents) will not be able to keep up with these boys as they grow. And lets be honest, the parents probably will not be around for the majority of their adulthood life.
ReplyDeleteWow! This women has a long road ahead of her with twin boys coming to this world. I agree that it is not fair for her boys to be raised by such an older parent, but at the same time it is not my decision. I just hope that she picked out a younger god mother and father.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about everyone else's parents or grandparents, but both of my parents are pushing 60 and are probably more active and physically fit than a lot of the 20-somethings that we see walking around campus. Also, this vaguely reminds me of the criticism that some young parents get in regard to their ability to raise children at their age.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first read this I did find it a little strange and yeah I felt bad for the kids who have no choice in who their parents are. After thinking about it though its like you never know the situation. These parents might be healthier and more mobile than most 20-30 year olds these days. Plus I'm sure they have lots of stories and wisdom to share with the new babies as they grow up. I also hope they stay active and healthy and the twins get to live a normal life and don't have to end up taking care of their parents at a super young age.
