No opening on Thanksgiving day
I'm sure many of us don't get to spend a big portion of thanksgiving with our families because of Black Friday starting earlier every year. I was browsing online and I found an article on business insider that was talking about how many retailers and shopping malls have decided to actually remain closed on Thanksgiving! Mostly because business has gone down (I mean yeah because people want to have family time) during this day so being open actually hurts their business. For individuals in the world of retail this is great news because now we might get to spend a full Thanksgiving with our families. Black Friday should stay on the day it was designed for, Friday!

I wish it was like that at the outlets here.. The store I work at is opening at 6pm on Thanksgiving day. It takes the fun out of the holiday and just makes it really stressful. Glad to hear some businesses are waiting to open until Friday and hope more retailers jump on this trend.
ReplyDeleteThat is great news, because I feel everyone is made to work Black Friday and its just like not understandable. I remember I worked one Black Friday and I had gotten sick, it was one of those stress days because the line seemed to never stop . At the time I was working for Express and we had had the same promotion that we had on Black Friday days prior to that, but it still got very bad. I have never gone shopping on black friday the only time I was at the mall that day was when I worked at 3 am the Friday morning. I felt like I was not able to enjoy the holiday because I had to get sleep, plus I was sick so that just was a terrible.
ReplyDeleteWhat exciting news! Before I got the job I have now I too was stuck working on Thanksgiving. It is such a huge inconvenience for those of us who travel as well as it just putting a cloud over the holiday. I so hope this will apply for the outlet mall since many of the students at TXST work there.
ReplyDeleteIf this were to happen everywhere it would be great! This year will be my 7th year working Black Friday (Wow I did not realize it has been that may years already). I think I am just used to not getting to spend any of the holidays with my family anymore but it would be a good change to be able to actually be off during the holidays.
