Environment

After our class on Thursday, I realized how oblivious to environmental issues I have been. I realized that I have been the person that just walks by trash and doesn't pick it up. I was never as bad as to leave my trash or liter behind but I realized not picking it up is just as bad. I hadn't been recycling at my apartment because there are only two small recycle bins and every single time I would try to put something in it, they were always already overflowing. I always thought it was just a little thing and really what difference could one person (me) recycling make? After our discussion Thursday I realized what a difference each person makes. It is sort of a domino effect because if one person doesn't recycle, they won't encourage their friends, roommates or even family to recycle either. My Mom always made a big deal about recycling when I lived at home and I always thought she was being dramatic. I know that sounds ridiculous but I am being honest about how ignorant to it all I was. She even would go as far as cleaning everything out to make sure it could be recycled. I realize now how much of an impact that can have and I really want to be more conscious about it. The little things really do add up and can make a difference.

  1. I felt the same way after class! About a year ago I started using only recycled aluminum foil and recycled BPA free containers for my leftover food, but other than that I am horrible when it comes to recycling! It is actually embarrassing and so sad! But I totally agree on how much of a difference each person can make!
