I VOTED
So this isn't super big news, but after standing in line for over an hour and a half in the stupid early time of day, I did it! This was my second election to vote. The atmosphere seemed different this time around (it's really difficult not ending sentences with prepositions. Why is that a grammar law? Don't like). People seemed more interested as demonstrated by large increase of people at my polling place over 4 years ago. One thing about this election that was increasingly more confusing was figuring out where/how to vote. I wish I could vote for president anywhere. I understand the logic, but even though my license says Houston, I know more about what's happening in San Marcos than I do back in H-town. I should've been more informed about Houston policy, but I really wasn't. I hadn't been thinking about anything other than president that I hadn't thought to research candidates running for offices in Houston. I didn't want to make a blind vote, so I ended up just voting for president. I felt bad, but I'd rather not vote for positions that I am completely ignorant about. I'll take this one as a learning opportunity for next time hopefully.

I also recently voted! It was my first time to vote so it was exciting besides having terrible options to choose from. However when I went to early vote I didn't have to wait in line at all! I guess I got lucky. I was the same as you when it came to now knowing who the other people are on the ballots so I left quite a few blank. I felt weird voting for someone I had never heard of. I definitely will do more research next election now that I know how it all works!
