But i'm still hungry...

When watching the food stamp documentary in class I couldn't help but think about my parents and their struggle when they were younger.  Both working fulltime, my mom working during the day and my dad at night doing what they needed to to get by.  A family that could have greatly benefited from food stamps but because of their massive amount of income coming in (20 cents more than the requirement) they were unable to gain any kind of assistance.

The couple in the video did not have children.  Imagine if they did...they were having to ration their food carefully, denying themselves of snacks and seconds.  How do you as a parent deny your child something as simple as an extra apple or second helping of veggies.  Ugh, my heart.

  1. I would hope I would never be in the situation where I would need to get on food stamps especially after seeing how far the food stamp budget can take you. I really feel for those who are having to live off of the limited diet food stamps provide and also for the people in situations like your family was in. It's crazy how many families go without these benefits even though the desperately need them. The poverty line definitely needs to be adjusted so more people in need can get assistance. But it was good to see other organizations providing food banks to those in need in addition to the food stamps.
