Black, white, or purple.

Despite the obvious tension on Thursday I am so thrilled that professor Stone gave our class time to discuss the BLM movement.  I think it gave our classmates who had a difficult time with using appropriate language on  the matter open their eyes to a new perspective.  I especially appreciated our classmates bravery who shared her experience with her younger brother and mother.  It hit my heart like a ton of bricks.  How awful it is that the individuals who were once labeled as our protectors are now looked at as untrusting monsters.  Like our other classmate shared about her family member being a cop...I too have an uncle who is a cop.  Is it scary? Absolutely.  Do I believe that his life matters more than anyone else's or that he as a Mexican American has been treated has unjustly as so many innocent African Americans? No.  I believe there are good cops and bad cops.  I believe there are good people and bad people whether they be black, white, or purple.
