Wells Fargo is
currently involved in a scandal. It’s recently been discovery that they’ve been
creating bank and credit cards accounts using customers' information since 2011. Millions of their customers
are outraged, and I don’t blame them. I personally have been a Wells Fargo
customer for three years now. Although I was lucky enough not to go through this,
it does make me think twice about continuing to bank with them. In my eyes they
have always been a trustworthy bank. They have always had great customer
service and have been very helpful. I know many people have closed their accounts
and have gone to other banks. However, what assures us that there aren’t other
banks doing the same thing?
I heard about this scandal a few days ago. I was amazed at how much money Wells Fargo actually took from its customers! To be fined $185 million is insane! I cannot even imagine that much money. I know there are a fair amount of Texas State students that use Wells Fargo since it is right on campus, so I bet there are many Texas State students, like you, who are worried about continuing banking with them. Also, the fact that they fired 5,300 of their employees, to me, demonstrates an overall company scandal and not just one bank.
ReplyDeleteI think your comment about how can we be sure that other banks are not doing the example same thing is interesting. I had not really thought about it, but it does worry me.
