We have only been in class for two weeks and I have already learned to be aware of so many things! I typically do not pay attention to what is going on around me because I feel like there is so much negativity. I feel like I would rather be in my own bubble and not have to worry about what else is going on in the world. I am also always so busy with school and work, so it gives me very little time to be able to sit and watch the news or read a newspaper. But I will say since I have downloaded the NPR app I have been listening to KUT 90.5 and I cannot say I hate it! I love that I can just listen from where ever I am and tune in to what is going on. I have made it part of my routine to listen to KUT in the mornings while I am getting ready for the day. Now instead of watching reality shows like I typically do when I have free time I listen to KUT to see what is going on in the world!

  1. This is so refreshing to know! And I feel the same way! It is SO much easier to turn a blind eye, especially when the "news" is nothing but terrorists this, murder that, political scandal this, oddly meaningless celebrity that. It's a huge turn off! But yes, this class has been another seed planted that screams "You need to be informed of the craziness if we are going to do anything about it!" I think with all the information out there, people like us just need to be more selective with our sources and only expose ourselves to the right amount of news. Too much is, well, too much. Be informed and be mindful.
