New York/New Jersey Bombings Last Weekend
Last weekend, multiple bombings took place in New York and New Jersey. This really hit home for me because I am from New Jersey and over the summer, I traveled to New York twice a week for work. The first bomb went off in a garbage can at a Marine Corps Charity race in Seaside Park, New Jersey Saturday morning. Everyone assumed that this was an isolated incident until two more bombs were found unexploded nearby. Then Saturday night, a bomb went off in New York's Chelsea neighborhood injuring 29 people. The remnants of the bomb were found with a note that had names of former terrorists on it, including the Boston Marathon bombers. Then on Sunday night a backpack detonated near the Elizabeth train station in New Jersey. This is all just so crazy to me because we have all been hearing about these types of things happening but until it happens close to home, you never think it could happen anywhere near you. Many people that I worked with take the train into New York and lived near a lot of those places. It is so scary how crazy the world is right now and how these people that are doing these attacks are people that are living in our country. One of my good friends is a train conductor and they had to be on lock down the entire day after this happened. I can't even wrap my head around the fact that myself or someone I know could have been at any of those locations when the bombs detonated. The man behind all of this has been found and arrested but he rode the train to New York with bombs in his backpack, left them in Chelsea, and then took the train back to Elizabeth where he left five more bombs in the backpack at the train station!!! I really can't understand how this happened and how it was so easy for him to do. Something has to change to make these things stop happening so often. There 100% needs to be more security on public transportation.

This is so crazy and scary and its sad that i didn't even hear about it.. I've been trying to pay more attention to what is going on around us but i still feel like i do not know much at all. It makes it much more real when its happening closer to home thats for sure. I agree! something major needs to be done to prevent anything like this from happening again.. It is so scary to think that anyone can be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
